Glossary

Administrator. Someone who runs your organization in Scriblet. Administrators add contributors, make bulletins and web pages, and can change anything on the calendar.

Alert. A text or email Scriblet sends you when something you asked about is set or changes. See Calendar alerts.

Announcement. A notice for the bulletin, like “The youth car wash is Saturday”. It can run for several weeks.

Bulletin. Your organization’s printed or emailed order of service and notices, made from the calendar by an administrator.

Bulletin folder. Where files you email to Scriblet are saved for your administrators to use.

Calendar. Your organization’s record of who is doing what, and what’s happening, on each date. Updates go here first.

Console. The website your administrators use to run your organization in Scriblet. Contributors can use parts of it too, if an administrator invites them.

Contributor. Someone your administrator has added to your organization’s list, so they can send updates by text or email.

Duty. A job someone does on a service day, like greeter or deacon. Your organization chooses its own duties.

Duty schedule. Who is on a duty for several weeks, sent all at once by email and approved before it goes on the calendar. See Sending updates by email.

Event. Something happening on a date, like a potluck or a board meeting. Events can be on any day of the week.

Issue report. A message telling Scriblet what went wrong and what you expected to happen. Someone looks into it. See When Scriblet gets it wrong.

Organization’s list. The people your administrators have added as contributors, with their phone number and email address.

Repeating event. An event set up once for every week, like a weekly prayer meeting. It’s set up on the Recurring page in the Scriblet console, and one week can be changed by text or email.

Scriblet address. Your organization’s email address for updates. It looks like updates+yourorganization@updates.scriblet.io.

Scriblet number. Your organization’s phone number for texting updates. It’s in your welcome email.

Service day. The day your organization holds its service, like Saturday or Sunday. With no date, an update is for the coming service day.

Service item. Part of the service, like the sermon title, a hymn or the scripture reading.

START and STOP. The words you text to turn texting with Scriblet on or off. See Keywords.

Suggestion. A message asking your administrators for something, rather than giving an update. Scriblet passes it on and records nothing from it.

Update. A text or email telling Scriblet who is doing what, or what’s happening, and when.

Web page. A page on the web about your organization, made from the calendar by an administrator.
